The lettering is cut in the surface of the stone and painted with enamel.
Genuine 23½ carat gold leaf lettering is also available
Treated with a special undercoat and covered with gold leaf.

This process removes the background leaving the symbol and / or lettering raised, as example 11. This is not suitable for white marble.
